As a child, Dr. Acierno immigrated to the United States along with his older brother and mother from Italy aboard the Andrea Doria Ocean liner. The family settled in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Dr. Acierno attended elementary school and high school in the Pittsburgh area. As a child, Dr. Acierno was stricken with a severe form of Rheumatic Fever which rendered him infirmed and hospitalized for over a year. While in high school, he participated in just about every sport. His passion for sport, especially weightlifting and body building, aided him greatly in his prolonged, fifteen year recovery and rehabilitation. It was his illness which sparked his desire to learn more about his illness as well as other illnesses, specifically why some become ill while others do not. It was this quest for knowledge which eventually led Dr. Acierno onto his path to Chiropractic and Holistic health and healing.

In 1972 he attended the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport, Iowa, completing his course of studies within three years, graduating in 1975 near the top of his class. Dr. Acierno became a Diplomat of The Nation Board of Chiropractic Examiner as well as a licensed practitioner in Pennsylvania six months prior to graduation.

Upon graduating, he established his first practice in Pittsburgh where he practiced until 1981. In January of 1980, Dr. Acierno traveled to California and sat for the California State Board Exam with the intention of moving to Southern California. He passed his board exams on his first attempt, quite a feat considering the California Board is one of the most difficult in the country, with a first time pass rate of 10%.

In January of 1982, Dr. Acierno relocated from Pittsburgh to Mission Viejo, California where he currently resides with his wife and children. He opened his first offices in Anaheim and then in Santa Ana and Mission Viejo only recently relocating to Tustin. Throughout his 43 years in practice, he has focused his efforts and considerable talents on a Holistic approach to treating and curing human ailments.

More recently, Dr. Acierno has certified as a Medical Examiner for the FMCSA to perform examinations and to issue medical certificates for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers.
